Hey peeps! Hope you didn't get April Fooled today like me.
I haven't written for a while but because me love music far too much for my own good,
I thought I'd start with a post featuring some of my favourite songs out there right now,
because it seems that all of a sudden there's been a wave of ruddy awesome music
and I genuinely feel spoilt for choice.

So my lovelies, feast your eyes on these bangers...

GEORGE EZRA // HAIM // COLDPLAY //

Wassup my homies.
I've got three brand new songs for you to check out:

1) GEORGE EZRA- CASSY O

I love this guy and understandably I therefore love all his music.
Every song to me is an example of utmost perfection. I really cannot
fault him, and new offering 'Cassy O' is no exception.
It's got a real sense of soul, purpose and joy, not to mention the catchiest
hookline you will probably hear all year.

2) HAIM- IF I COULD CHANGE YOUR MIND

My fave girl group EVER, because of their irrefutable coolness
and way of showing that girls CAN PLAY MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS
AND make decent rock and indie music are back with a new hit that once
again reminds us how AMAZING they are, and a video
that sees the girls bringing back synchronized dancing
(and making it look pretty damn cool).

3) COLDPLAY- MIDNIGHT

As ever with Coldplay, Chris Martin's claims that their newest album
'might be their last' are once again proven to be false with the band putting
out a new single, 'Midnight', at midnight, completely out of blue.
Like tigers prowling in shade of the African outback, they've apparently been
waiting for the perfect time to pounce with this new beauty that is a complete
departure from 'Mylo Xyloto' but not a far step from recent release 'Atlas'.

Don't you just love music?

DOLCE AND GABBANA // AUTUMN WINTER 2014 COLLECTION

Models in silver mini-dresses, playsuits, studded shoes, gloves and even Mail Coifs resemble a Medieval fashion army

It may only be February but one of my favourite designer labels Dolce and Gabbana
have been gracing the Milan catwalk with their absolutely gorgeous new Autumn/ Winter 2014 collection
inspired by beautiful fairytale imagery. Keys, flowers, lace, fur, embellishment,
animals, flowing fabrics... Take a look!

Luxurious blood red and chocolate fur coat with giant hood and pockets

GEORGE EZRA/ BUDAPEST/ DID YOU HEAR THE RAIN/ BBC 2014

Everybody, give a big, warm West Country welcome to
the wonderful Bristol native, GEORGE EZRA.

This extremely talented budding singer-songwriter with
gloriously throaty voice that's as rich as dark chocolate
has become a firm favourite of BBC Radio One DJ's Zane Lowe
(all hail the master of music)and Fearne Cotton and is
currently being hailed as one to watch in 2014
(and rightly so).

He's already played the Introducing Stage at Glastonbury
and embarked on a expedition of Europe in the pursuit
of adventure and inspiration for his ever increasing song book.
-You only have to listen to the fabulous 'Budapest
to spot those very influences which are beautifully
woven throughout the song.

And if that wasn't enough reason to give George's music a
spin, he's also been on tour with Tom Odell and
Lianne La Havas AND he finished fifth in the BBC Sound
of 2014 poll.

George is currently working on his debut studio album
which judging by his EP 'Did You Hear The Rain?' is
going to be a right corker/ smasher/ banger (as Miley
Cyrus would say) of an album.

Here are some of our fave George Ezra tunes...

SAM SMITH: BRIT CHOICE AWARDS WINNER 2014

Two words, two syllables:
SAM SMITH

Who is this guy, I hear you ask, well 21 year old Sam
just happens to be the winner of the BRIT Critics Choice Award
2014, succeeding Tom Odell and following in the
footsteps of Ellie Goulding, Emeli Sande, Adele, Jessie J and
Florence and the Machine to name but a few.

So judging by the impressive names etched on to this
prestigious list, it seems that Sam's in good stead with a strong
chance of emulating the success of his fellow winners,
and I don't see why he shouldn't with a voice like that.

If you don't know what I'm talking about,
think along the lines of John Newman ie. a whole lot of soul
combined with clean cut, distinctive, powerhouse vocals and that's Sam for you.

You can hear his gorgeous tones in a series
of songs on which he has featured, such as Disclosure's 'Latch'
and Naughty Boy's summer smash 'La-la-la', each of which
those powerhouse vocals I spoke about steal the show
every. single. time.

And with the announcement of his success in wining the
Critics Choice Award comes the imminent release of Sam's début single
'Money on My Mind' which I absolutely adore.

It's got a catchy little hook line in the chorus,
it's slick and smooth with echoes of house, soul, pop and R&B
all intertwined to form a truly gorgeous and stunning
début that reinforces Sam's passion for music
and leaves the listener happily convinced that Sam is in the
industry purely for the love of music.

If you find yourself intrigued by this star in the making,
check out 'Money on My Mind' right here:

Single release: 16th February on Capitol Records

Debut album: 'In The Lonely Hour' set for release
on the 26th May.

MULBERRY SS14 CAMPAIGN

Okay so Mulberry have just released
photos from their Spring Summer 2014 campaign
and I think I died and went to heaven
(which is where I am writing this to you from).

Shot by Tim Walker in gorgeous, quintessentially
English Oxford mansion of sorts, they feature
the stunning and undeniably awesome
model of the moment, Cara Delevingne, in her second
campaign for the brand.

Perfect or what.

The décor sings 'English Rose' what with the pastel
shaded roses, the heart melting furry animals and an Alice
and Wonderland esque tea party,
oh, and that's not mentioning the CLOTHES, and THE BAGS
which are completely and utterly DIVINE.

Curiosity bug bitten?
Take a look at these photos...

She's back! Cara Delevingne has been unveiled as the face of Mulberry for the second season

Horsing around: Cara showcases the luxury British brand's new arm candy and ready to wear clothing as she poses with a white horse

Puppy love: Mulberry say the shoot is a 'charming British tea party with a few unexpected guests'

Furry friends: Cara, 21, proves that she is ever the professional as she poses with a parrot on her shoulder in the SS14 campaign

NEW, UNDISCOVERED & RUDDY AWESOME MUSIC ONE

So on my Twitter @diamond_glasses
I have quite a few followers who happen to be budding musicians
in the making and I thought it would be nice
to take a moment to listen to their music and give you a heads
up on who's who and some tunes to listen to.

Before this blog I wrote a blog called Tee Pot Music
but as I've been so busy, and because something crazy happened
which involved me not listening to the radio for weeks at a time,
I didn't think I was in as good a position
to recommend new music.

But I'm going to flex my musical joints right now *crack crack*
and dish out some musical goods for you in time for
Christmas... I don't have time to write much but I'm
going to give you some names, songs and info as to where, if you
like what you hear, you can find out more.

:)

1) Alex George

Slow Dancing In A Burning Room (John Mayer Cover)

 Lego House (Ed Sheeran Cover)

LA LA LA (Sam Smith ft Naughty Boy cover)

This Barnham native is very, very good at
what he does. I've just been listening to the covers above
and nodding my head in approval like the Churchill dog on
those adverts because me like what I am hearing.
Alex has such a gorgeous voice
that will slot nicely into the 'Easy Listening' and 'Acoustic
genres of your music library.

So far he only has covers up, but it will
be interesting to see what Alex's produces when he takes a dabble at
making his own music.

If you like Alex George you should also take a look at
the music of his collaboration partner Ben Harvey.

2) JAKE WEST

Believe

Skinny Love (Bon Iver cover)

Your Love

Jake hails from Leeds, up in depths of Yorkshire,
but alas, his beautiful rich voice bears no trace of this.
I would write more about Jake and who he is,
but he sums it perfectly himself in
this groovy and funny little You Tube vid...

3)  ADAM BYRNE

Sun Don't Shine (Sonnentanz ft Will Heard cover)

Hold On We're Going Home ft Get Lucky

Now I can't find out much about Adam,
except he's Irish (wooooooh, we love the Irish!) but
what I can tell you is that this guy is
a budding talent if ever there was one. The two vids
above see Adam collaborate with another guy,
whose name I do not know, but when the two come together
it really is something amazing.

To see what I mean go listen to their covers
and you'll understand. I hope Adam and said guy form a
duet because I really do think they are onto something when they
bring their respective talents together, and
I can't wait to hear what they cover next!

4) MajorLOVE

Sunrise

All The Other People

MajorLOVE are an indie-dance-pop duo comprised of
a husband and wife with a big love for music.
They hail from Phoenix Arizona (quite possibly where Bella
in Twilight is from- nerd fact right there) and
trust me you will be pleasantly surprised by what you find
when you click on their vids.

I have to admit I wasn't sure what to expect,
but the You Tube comments assured me goodness was about to come
my way and y'know what, they were damn right.

Take a listen to Sunrise in particular for gorgeous vocals galore.

Feet Hit The Floor

Dead of The Night

King & Queen

Mr Tom is a four piece self described 'indie banger pop'
band from Southampton who create some tunes that most certainly
do fit into the 'banger' category.
If you want an example listen to 'Feet Hit The Floor' which
launches straight into an upbeat mish mash of pulsating
sounds that will instantly hook your attention.

They also have the best website ever!
