Hey peeps! Hope you didn't get April Fooled today like me.

I haven't written for a while but because me love music far too much for my own good,

I thought I'd start with a post featuring some of my favourite songs out there right now,

because it seems that all of a sudden there's been a wave of ruddy awesome music

and I genuinely feel spoilt for choice.

THE GRAND BUDAPEST HOTEL // WES ANDERSON

Yesterday I went with my family to see the absolutely WONDERFUL 'The Grand Budapest Hotel'

directed by the incredible Wes Anderson who makes every visual deliciously attractive to the eye

and in the most artistic of manners. 

If you're a sucker for aesthetics, this film will hold you in

absolutele bliss for its entire 99 minute duration, and when it comes to an end, it's like waking

up from a dream in the harsh realms of reality. The film is just that stunning. I wanted to 

stay in that magical little beautiful gem of a world that Anderson creates for us.

 And if that wasn't enough, I haven't even started on everything else that contributes to make this 

film easily one of the best I have ever seen.

I was intrigued to watch 'The Grand Budapest Hotel' firstly because of the above theatrical poster
(the power of good advertising), and because two Lit and Drama loving lads in my English class 

(yes they actually exist!) we're raving on about it, with one reason being the fabulously funny 

Bill Murray was in it. And aside from that, there is of course the star studded array of 

truly brilliant acting talent.

Ralph Fiennes dazzles as the extravagant concierge Gustave, newcomer Tony Revolori is glorious 

as young lobby boy and sidekick Zero, Jude Law makes an appearance with his seductive

and unapologetically British accent sounding as gorgeous as ever. And if that wasn't enough, 

you have Saoirse Ronan, Adrien Brody, Lea Seydoux, William Dafoe, Jeff Goldblum

and Tilda Swinton, to name but a few.

It's safe to say Anderson has well and truly plucked the very cream of the acting crop in this film.

And just to rave on about it a little bit more, The Grand Budapest is a real melting pot of different 

genres that are blended together and fantastically interwoven by some amazing writing

and imaginative talent to create a film that is funny, beautiful, gory at times, thrilling, consistently 

stunning, unpredictable in the best way possible and as my dear Dad said with the highest

of respects, 'utterly zany and eccentric'.

And he's right.

This film is not your typical film. It's unapologetically unique and it honestly is true film making

at it's best. It's crafted, acted, produced, written and directed to perfection and is

completely deserving of the 5 stars that are being repeatedly blasted its way.

All I can say is one word: WOW.

And lastly, GO AND SEE IT.

COATS FLOAT MY BOAT

Do you like my title? (Forever trying to be cool).

Now I know what you're thinking, 'why on earth is she doing a post

about coats when it is very nearly Spring?' and yes, I agree with you,  but

the thing is, I'm English. And this is important for three things:

1) Burberry and Barbour et al all come from here. Loving coats and everything

is practically in our blood.

2) Our signature style normally involves some fancy, smart tailored coat

of sorts (think Sherlock)

3) The majority of the year it is either rainy, windy , cold or grey, for instance today it

began nice and sunny and warm and within the space of four hours it has turned cloudy,

so from about September to April WE NEED A COAT.

And lastly, I am a great believer in the magic of a good coat.

It's incredible how the addition of a tailored, good fitting, neutral coloured,

nicely cut coat can completely transform an outfit.

I can wear sports gear (not that I own any), put a said coat on top

and voila, I somehow look ten times more fashionable and stylish than

I did a minute ago.

Wassup my homies.

I've got three brand new songs for you to check out:

1) GEORGE EZRA- CASSY O 

I love this guy and understandably I therefore love all his music.

Every song to me is an example of utmost perfection. I really cannot

fault him, and new offering 'Cassy O' is no exception.

It's got a real sense of soul, purpose and joy, not to mention the catchiest

hookline you will probably hear all year.

2) HAIM- IF I COULD CHANGE YOUR MIND

My fave girl group EVER, because of their irrefutable coolness

and way of showing that girls CAN PLAY MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS

AND make decent rock and indie music are back with a new hit that once

again reminds us how AMAZING they are, and a video

that sees the girls bringing back synchronized dancing

(and making it look pretty damn cool).

3) COLDPLAY- MIDNIGHT

As ever with Coldplay, Chris Martin's claims that their newest album

'might be their last' are once again proven to be false with the band putting

out a new single, 'Midnight', at midnight, completely out of blue.

Like tigers prowling in shade of the African outback, they've apparently been

waiting for the perfect time to pounce with this new beauty that is a complete

departure from 'Mylo Xyloto' but not a far step from recent release 'Atlas'.

Don't you just love music?

BRIT AWARDS 2014 ( WHAT A BANGER)

The Brit Awards last night.

Wow. Wow. Wow.

A real corker slash banger of a show.

The huge array of star studded guests, the insane

line up of live acts, amazing fashion, deserving winners...

It was just SO GOOD!

I can't think of adjectives that do it justice!

Us Brits can be a mardy bunch at the best of times, but

we sure as hell know how to put on an epic show when

we want to, and I'm pretty sure we're all party

animals at heart.

Because how that show could be better, I just do

not know!

  

Opening with Arctic Monkeys (I luv u) who won the double

again, Best British Group & Album, Katy Perry's

'my paints have exploded' super colourful performance,

my absolute fave BEYONCE(oh yah baby) looking sublime in 

that gorgeous gorgeous turquoise sequin dress...

The collabs with Lorde & Disclosure, Ella Eyre

(wow that jumpsuit) & Rudimental with Bastille, 

Ellie Goulding and her drums, Bruno Mars shaking his 

hips, as he does, AND NILE ROGERS AND

PHARRELL TOPPING THE EVENING OFF with an EPIC MIX

of some of their insane hits. 

Oh, and not to mention DAVID BOWIE winning Best British

Male (the oldest recipient) AND sending KATE MOSS,

as you do, to go collect and in doing so kindly

request Scotland to 'stay with us'. 

AND there was Al Turner's drunken acceptance speech about

good old Rock and Roll:

"That Rock & Roll. It just won't go away. It might hibernate form time to 

time, sink back into the swamp, I think the cyclical nature in the universe 

in which it exists demands it adheres to some of its rules. But it's always waiting there just around the corner ready to make its way back through the sludge and smash through the glass ceiling looking better than ever. 

'Yeah that rock and roll it seems like it's fading away sometimes but it'll 

never die and there's nothing you can do about it.

'Thank you very f***ing much for this, I do truly appreciate it. Don't take 

that the wrong way. Invoice me for the microphone if you need to."

Wow. What an evening.

SUBMARINE SOUNDTRACK// RAINY MORNINGS

In England the weather has been 

acting like a fully fledged hormonal teenager 

lately with thunderstorms, rain, hail, the odd

bit of sunshine and blustery winds galore.

Just the way we like it. Not.

But if there's one thing this type

of weather is good for, it's creating those

cosy mornings where you look out the window at said

weather cocooned in your pj's or dressing gown,

steaming mug of tea in one hand, choolate biscuit in

the other and sigh as you think to yourself,

'I'm so glad I'm not going out in that!'

This happened to me on Sunday, when, 

although I had to go volunteering out in the rain and wind

for five hours (dedication), I had that exact same cosy,

cocooned feeling. And when that feeling or moment

hits you, I can tell you the perfect thing you want

to be listening to: 

The Submarine soundtrack.

It was written for the brilliant Richard Ayode film interpretation of the novel by Joe Dunthorn way back 

when in 2011 by my all time favourite man crush, 

Alex Turner off of the Arctic Monkeys, my all time 

favourite band.

Submarine is one of my favourite films and the soundtrack

is one of the best ever written because in true Turner 

style the lyrics are complex and enigmatic, with a gorgeous  metaphoric beauty, all sung in soft gentle tones by

the man himself.

It's mind boggling music that somehow sets your mind and 

soul at peace and almost seems to light up a dark and empty

room with a hazy gentle glow, and that my friend, is what makes this soundtrack utterly perfect for those gloomy rainy days.
