FRIEDRICH NIETZSCHE QUOTES

I don't know about you, but I love Friedrich Nietzsche's quotes, and how they are so
artfully constructed with a series and sequence of words that can convey the most
beautiful and powerful of emotions and meanings.

Here are some of my favourites...

GOOD DAYS + BAD DAYS (+ SOME BUTTERNUT SQUASH)

Last week was a particularly bad week for me, and I'm not going to lie, it really got me down,
as bad days and numerous bad days in succession normally do.

I got to the end of the week and had reached the point where I was just expecting something bad
to happen, like fate dictated that because this week had begun rather bad, the rest of the week had
to stay in line with that. It felt like someone somewhere had it in for me and I have to say I'm not
the best at coping when things go wrong. I always tell other people to carry on, it's just one bad
day, you have so many other good things happening yet when I'm the one having a bad day, I
really can't take my own advice.

If I'm having a bad day, I let it get to me, I let it pull me down, I fall at the first hurdle, and
I hate it. I want to be strong, I want to keep positive, but I just can't.

Now I'm not going to go into details about my bad week, but I will say it involved the shortest
job interview in the history of ever that ended in a quick rejection, me being 'late' for work and
completely and utterly messing up my Biology practical exam. Add to that the stress of college
and pressure of getting the grades for Uni and some serious overthinking, and you're guaranteed
a breakdown by the end of the week.

_______________________________________________________________________

But, the most important thing is that once I had that mini meltdown, things began to slowly
get better, and I pinpoint this moment as being when I decided to make some butternut
squash chips, purely randomly. I was expecting them to burn and yes a couple of them did,
but most of them didn't, and they tasted delicious. And after that, I just knew that my bad luck
was coming to and end. And I was right.

The whole butternut squash thing was yesterday. Today is the start of a new week,
and the strangest thing has been happening. It's almost as if by going through such a
crap week last week, karma, or the laws of the universe or something has dictated that
now I'm going to have a really good week to make up for it.

Today was only Monday and yet so many good things happened, most of them small
but they accumulate to form a bigger picture...

1) I almost missed the bus this morning but I didn't.
2) My friend bought us 'chocolate rocks' from Iran (where he's from) which I love.
3) Work let me off being late due to my apology email (I got a smiley face and everything!).
4) Me & one of my best friends began planning a trip to London.
4) I got an A on my English essay (aaaaaaahhhhh!!!)
5) I thought I would be on my own at lunch but I wasn't.
6) I felt like a sassy, independent, strong lady (wooooh) ;)
7) I got an offer from a university for which I genuinely thought I had
screwed up my interview and that I never expected to get an offer from EVER.
8) It was sunny and warm and beautiful and I just felt simply content.

____________________________________________________________________

So I don't quite know how this universe works, but I just wanted to say that if you're having
a bad week like I did, hold in there. Life has a funny way of working out and it's more
than likely that that bad week is preparing you for something amazing that is just around
the corner. Struggle through the bad and you'll be rewarded with the good.

BEAUTIFUL DAYS

Although today has not been the best day of my life, as it included
getting drenched waiting for the college bus in the rain as it was super mega late,
doing a Biology test and messing up my Biology practical exam because
I am scientifically impaired,  it also involved singing along to the radio
in my best friend's car after we decided to use another mode of transport,
drying our hair under the hand dryer in the college toilets and the sun has
finally come out.

So right now, if I look out the window, all I can see are gorgeous
bright blue skies, lush green plants in my garden and a big beaming sunshine.
Top that off with the nutella pancakes I had for lunch and what seemed to be
a bad day has now done a u turn, and it is so very beautiful :)

So to celebrate that, I found these photos of beautiful days for you to enjoy
and I made them super large and everything, because you know, it's a good day and
all that.

PEOPLE

When I found this the other day, I couldn't help but think how true it was.
It resonated with me so strongly, because it made me think of a couple of people
I've met this year, or people that I've grown really close too, who I would never had
thought I could click so well with, yet I do, and in some cases better than people I've
known for so much longer.

I've been lucky enough to meet some really wonderful people, people with whom
I can completely be myself around, people who never give me a reason to do anything
but smile, people who make me feel complete in some way, people who I truly hope
remain in my life for a long, long time to come.

These people are ones who I never saw coming, yet they just appeared, like
some greater force knew that they were exactly what I needed, the right kind of
people to surround myself with, and these people have given me hope in the world,
that some truly amazing people really do exist, and hoping to meet people like that
isn't a foolish dream to have. It is real. They exist. You just have to find them.
Or wait for them to find you.

Another reason why I like this quote though, is because it isn't all the usual
'when you find someone like that you should never let them go', because I know
that in an ideal world, once you find these sorts of people you should never let
them out of your sight. But in the real world, it's not always that easy.

One person I've met this year, I know for almost certain that despite the
huge impact they've made on my life, we will go our separate ways in a few
months time. This person, one of those special people of whom you only
meet but a few in your lifetime, will slip through my fingers, and even though
finding someone like them has been a dream come true, we aren't close enough
or confident enough to keep our relationship going.

It's just something that existed in this moment in time, and it was special, and
beautiful while it lasted, and even though I wish I could take them with me through the
rest of my life, I just don't think it's meant to be. So I guess all you can do is just
appreciate what you had, what little you have left to come, and just be grateful.

And as for those who you meet and you know will be sticking around,
try to hold on to them for as long as you possibly can.

EVERYTHING HAPPENS FOR A REASON

Today my Nana & Grandad came round for dinner and we got
talking and one of the things we got talking about earlier
was a man my Nana used to date when she was younger.

Now I'm a big believer that everything happens for a
reason, and my belief in this is something that I know
for a fact will never change. To me it just seems so
logical and what my Nana told me made me believe it
even more ( if that was possible)and this is the story...

So my Nana is Spanish, and she grew up in Spain
just after the Civil War. When she was a young woman
in the 1950'sshe fell in love with a man from her
village. He was called Alejandro and they were completely
and utterly smitten with one another.

They were together for three years and everyone in the
village was certain that they were going to get married.
It all seemed so perfect for my beautiful Nana and the
handsome and lovely Alejandro, but sadly tragedy struck.
One day my Nana said goodbye to Alejandro and he said
he'd see her two days later, but he never made it.

Alejandro was involved in a car crash with his friends
and sadly it took his life. He was the only one not to
survive. It makes me feel sad just thinking about it,
fifty years or so later, and for my Nana, it was
absolutely devastating -she had to wipe away tears
as she told me. It broke her heart, she didn't
eat for days, she was so lost without him, and
it had come so out of the blue when it seemed like
nothing could go wrong.

And of course I understand how tragic it was as he
was so young and in love with his whole life ahead of
him, and Alejandro must've been the most loveliest guy,
judging by the way my Nana still speaks about him.
But the thing is, if he hadn't died on that day,
it's almost certain that my Nana would have married him
and she never would have moved to London, which
she did to try to overcome her broken heart, and most
importantly, she never would have met my Grandad

Even when she was in London, on the day she met my
Grandad at a dance hall somewhere in the city, she
was so close to going to meet another man next to
Victoria Station. I find it so strange to think that if
Alejandro hadn't died, or she had gone to meet
that other man instead of my Grandad, as a consequence
9 people including myself wouldn't be here, and who
knows who would be here in our place?

All of our lives were dependent on both the death
of a young man and a split decision that my Nana made
without knowing at all what would happen as a result,
not to mention the other decisions that our parents
and grandparents made and events that happened in between.

And when I think of the members of my family
and what they've achieved, all the lives that have
stemmed from my Nana and those before her, it feels
like we were meant to be here for a reason.
It feels like everything that happened was meant to
happen for a reason. In this case of Alejandro it's
so tragic, and I wish he hadn't died, but at the same
time maybe he was meant to die, because in losing one
life, nine more were made possible.

And I think that's pretty incredible.

And I can think of so many more examples of why
everything must surely happen for a reason, but I think
that this is such a powerful example and I hope
you agree too :)

BLACK AND WHITE QUOTES

As always seems to happen, yesterday
I had a crazy few hours doing a few new designs for my
Bluboca store, but unlike always seems to happen, this was succeeded by a big blow out at a Chinese buffet restaurant
in town with some of my college friends.

Fun times made all the more funner by eating
the most beautiful roast potatoes I have ever had the
privilege of eating in my whole entire life.
And they weren't even Chinese.

But anyhow, my new collection is 'Quotes' and if you like
any of these designs above, that's where you can find them!
And if you have any suggestions for quotes you would like to
see, please drop me a comment below :)

Hope you're all having a fab weekend!
(GO EAT ROAST POTATOES, THEY RULE!)

LIFE CHANGES// NOTE TO SELF//

Sometimes I like to read through my old journals
and notepads and diaries and remember all the things that
have happened to me. My life back then always seems so
different to life I have now and I find it strange
yet so interesting looking back on things in retrospective
when all is said and done and time has moved on.

I come across people who I had forgotten had such
an important influence over my life, people who I used
to care about so much but scarcely think of anymore, the same
people I have in my life now or with whom my relationship
has changed either for the worse of for the better.

I come across hopes, aspirations, beliefs, fears,
problems, worries, struggles, changes, some of which I still
have, some that have changed completely and some which
no longer phase me like they used to or that I can laugh at now.

It's strange because you feel like the same person
you were back then and yet you don't.
When I read my old ramblings now I feel like a protective
and wise big sister, because although I read things
and I'm thinking 'no, don't do that, they'll only
hurt you' or 'oh no WHY WHY WHY WHY?!' at the same
time I'm thinking don't worry, you don't need to,
things will get better, trust me.

------------------------------------------------

That boy who drove you crazy won't bother you anymore,
that boy you never thought you'd get over well it turns
out you do. You and your friends will work out whatever
problems you had and you'll meet some amazing new friends
not far from now who you get on with so well.

You'll figure out what to do with your life and you'll
work out what you want to do and how to do it.
You'll get those grades, you'll mend your heart,
you'll end up stronger, wiser, one day you'll talk to
boys without your face looking like a giant pimple.

Things might fall apart but better things will fall together.
There's still some obstacles to come but you'll get
through them and there's some amazing things that will
happen that you are yet to experience.

It's true when they say everything happens for a reason,
you'll see that as you get older.
You aren't alone, you're not fat, ugly, unlovable,
you aren't worthless, you will pick yourself up,
dust yourself off and you will be okay.

The world won't end, the sun will shine again,
change will come and you will like it. You'll face
your fears, find happiness in things you never expected to
and do things you never expected to, and you won't worry
about the trivial things so much.

Life can be hard yet you'll realise it's
value , you'll figure out what really matters and what doesn't
and you'll appreciate life in all it's perfections
and imperfections.
