TOM ODELL & THE RUEN BROTHERS AKA. INSANELY AMAZING MUSIC

I need to stop posting & go have a shower
but man, ain't nobody got time fo' dat.

What I want to do, is tell you all about the amazing
gig I went to at Rock City in
Nottingham on Sunday.
And when I say it was amazing, I'm really not exaggerating.
IT WAS INSANE.

I'd even go so far as to say it may just be one of the best
I have ever been to, and I've been to a lot of gigs
in my 17 years on this earth.

The gig I saw was the fabulous Tom Odell,
and he was supported by The Ruen Brothers, and can I just say,
the quality of the music that both produced was
literally out of this world.

In this day & age it's so, so easy to forget how good quality music should sound, the kind where it's all about the
instruments, the voice, and the passion you put into them.
But this concert was an amazing re-enlightenment
of just that.

Now starting with The Ruen Brothers:
these guys are from Scunthorpe and they are genuinely lovely, lovely guys

They're also so talented, and they seem to be heralding
good old rock & roll revival.
Zane Lowe loves them and so do I, so that's good right?
I heard Aces on Zane's show aaagggeesss ago, and that's
where it all started for me,
so when I heard they were supporting Tom Odell I was over the moon that I was going to see them live!

We follow each other on twitter
(I use my Tee Pot Music account for that dohhh)
and every time I tweet them saying how much
I love their music, they always reply to me and they're ever so sweet when they do & I appreciate them taking the time to do that, because
not all artists would.

Their voices are so distinct, as is their sound,
and I'd advise you to take a listen to some of their music because they are just so, so good, and I really do
wish them every bit of success in the world,
because it couldn't happen to nicer people.

ACES

WALK LIKE A MAN

And now on to the absolutely BRILLIANT
Tom Odell and his equally brilliant band.

I knew as soon as I bought the tickets way back in June
that this would be one incredible concert,
and boy was I right.

I've loved Tom for quite a while now and
from the moment I first heard him sing 'Can't Pretend' I knew he was my kind of guy.

He is a musician through and through,
and when he sings and plays his piano so effortlessly and beautifully, he literally pours every single
ounce of passion, love and energy into every word and every key.

And you can hear it on the songs, you can can hear it on
his top notch debut 'Long Way Down', it's infectious,
but honestly, it really doesn't compare to how it feels when you see him do these songs live.

As a member of the audience, you can feel the energy surging
through your veins, the music just elevates you to some
musical heaven where everything sounds incredible
and it's as though you've never felt so alive.

I will never be able to put into words how it feels,
because I can't do that feeling justice,
and I can't put on a video, because even videos fail
to capture that magic, that spark, that energy, that passion.

What I watched on Sunday, was music
at it's absolute finest.
As in, you will struggle to find music made better than
it was right there and then.

It was just insanely incredibly brilliantly fantastically
supremely amazing, perfect, fabulous, wonderful,
and I urge you to watch him while you can.

Here's a nice pic of me & my dad at the concert to send you on your way

I'M A LIVERBIRD

I love you all for holding on as I battle
through mountains of college work in order to find the time
to post on my beloved little blog
for you lovelies.

Now as it's 9pm, and I've done my fair share of college work (wahey), it's time for me to post, and I have some pretty cool things to write about,
the first being LIVERPOOL!

My family and I went up north in search of a new city
to explore and we landed at Liverpool, which for those of you who might not know, is on the north west of the UK,
next to the sea.

-Wait, I don't know why I'm acting like it's some foreign,
unheard of place, because I've just remembered something rather important and obvious...

LIVERPOOL IS THE HOME OF THE BEATLES, AKA. ONE
OF THE MOST WELL KNOWN AND BEST BANDS EVER IN THE HISTORY OF EVER!!!

And I'm an idiot!

Now anyway, as seems to happen, I had the complete wrong idea about Liverpool, as I had with Manchester & Newcastle & just about everywhere else in the British Isles.

Basically, I didn't think it would be as nice as it actually was,
because let me tell you now, Liverpool is GORGEOUS, and I can
completely see why someone would want to live there all there life and never ever move.

There's the stunning Les Mis movie- esque architecture,
the modern, arty buildings, the beautiful Albert Docks, the Beatles EVERYWHERE the eye can see, the friendly locals, the cute cafe's and restaurants,AND AND AND
THE SHOPS.
OH FOR THE LOVE OF THE GREAT HOLY MAN IN THE SKY,
THOSE SHOPS... think I need a tissue.

Those shops were AMAZING.
I splashed £40 (well hardcore) and trust me, I could've spent
a lot, lot more.
The shopping centre was modern, insane, full of every shop you could ever wish to find... man it was BARE BEAUTZ as they say in Essex.

Just as the rest of the city is.

And it's so lovely to see them so proud of the Beatles too, as they should be- our hostel had a 'Strawberry Fields' floor and a 'Penny Lane'one where we stayed.
At night I put my Beatles album on and we all sang along instead
of watching TV, I mean c'mon, HOW COOL WAS THAT?

So yes, I could ramble on for quite a long time
about Liverpool, but I won't for now.

But what I will say is if you get the chance to go,
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.

I'm a complete convert & I'm pretty sure you'll be too.

ONE FOR THE ROAD, AKA. TRACTOR PROMO, AKA QUITE POSSIBLY THE BEST THING I'VE EVER WATCHED

You're yet to realise it yet, but my absolute FAVOURITE
BAND EVER TO EXIST EVER EVER EVER
is the Arctic Monkeys.
If you let me, I could literally rabbit on for hours
and I mean, HOURS, as in, if you got me going now,
I could probably still be quacking on 365 days later,
I just love them that much.
And yes I know they're not everyone's cup of tea,
but I ruddy love them, and yesterday they released the video
for 'One For The Road', their third single of fifth
number 1 album 'AM'.

And you can't say you don't like them after watching it.

This band will forever amuse me because fame to them
is just something that came with success,
and they don't really give a crap about it, not like other
musicians or artists might do.

Just to give you a few examples as to what I mean, this
is the band who turned up to the Brits circa 2007, their first Brit awards may I add, dressed firstly as the Wizard of Oz quartet, and secondly as the members of the infamous YMCA.

This is the band who, for comeback single 'Do I Wanna Know', didn't even feature themselves in the video,
despite a two year absence from the music scene.
This is the band who sung about pick and mix and gobstoppers and made it cool, the band whose lead singer looks like Elvis
re-incarnated yet still manages to look cooler than the King himself, if that were even possible

And in this video, they step things up a notch,
crank it up a tad just to put it one way....
If you've heard the song, or the album itself, you'll notice
a slight 90's R&B influence that's present
on numerous tracks, this being one of them.

'One For The Roadin particular is probably the track that embodies this, and when you picture a video in your head,
you think instantly of house party
late night antics,
cool cool cool and nothing less.

You don't, think TRACTORS.

So of course that's EXACTLY what the Monkeys have gone and decided to do.

Make a video about TRACTORS.

This would be like Kanye West & Jamie Foxx making the video for 'Gold Digger' and deciding to film it in a
giant bubble bath floating around on giant yellow ducks.

IT DOESN'T MAKE ANY SENSE.

But I was absolutely WETTING MYSELF as I watched it.

You can see that the Monkeys are taking the mick
just because they can, but ugghhhhh it just works so well!

How they make tractor riding so cool I do not know...

I'd urge you watch the vid right now,
and in order to understand exactly how amazingly funny this
mad creation is, please please please skip to
0:57 and then come back and
laugh with me, because it's GENIUS.

BANGING OUT THE BEAUTY TIPS

Now I can't believe that I am actually giving
some beauty tips, me (if you knew me in real life, aside from
my cool internet persona *wink wink nudge nudge* you would understand).

But this morning I was drying my hair,
as you do, when all of a sudden all these beauty tips started coming to me, and I was like 'need to get this out somewhere',
and nine hours later,
here we are.

And I've named this post
'BANGING OUT THE BEAUTY TIPS' which I think
goes to emphasize my earlier point, that I am really not a beauty expert.

But oh well, here goes....

NUMBER ONE
So this stuff is pretty cool, even though I don't know
how to spell it and had to rely on Google spell check to help me out. My tip for Sudocrem is this...

PUT IT ON YA SPOTS.

The last few days I've been sprouting a miniature version
of the Himalayas on the bottom of my chin and
pulling 'the scream' face in the mirror in absolute despair.
What could I do?!
Well my friends, I turned to my trusty little pot of Sudocrem
and slathered it over the little red minions on my chin.
As soon as I did that I got a tingling sensation,
the tell tale sign that whatever
it is you're using is doing something, and what do you know...
This morning I got up, looked in the mirror
and my Himalayas had been significantly reduced
and my chin was smoother than an iceberg in the Antarctic, and the inflammation had ceased to exist.

Incredible.

You can also apply it over your spots to give a smooth & even base on which to apply foundation too!

And it's only £2.55 at Boots!

COR BLIMEY.

NUMBER TWO
Now this stuff is free, AND it actually does help.

I used to mentally tell people to shut up when they
quacked on about the miracles of water, but then I actually
had a crack myself and I hold my hands up: it's true,
water does actually do stuff (good stuff).

So my first tip is number one,

DRINK IT.

On average I drink just over 1.5 litres a day
and it's actually not that hard.
In fact, it's kind of tasty in a weird way,
and trust me, you feel much better after drinking
water than you do after drinking coke or booze or whatever.
GO WATER!

My second tip is

WASH YA FACE WITH IT.

Don't invest all your money in fancy creams or washes or slush to whack all over your beautiful face, because there's really
no need to spend 5 or 6 quid when you could
spend nothing

When I became a teenager, I would be buying new products
every week to combat the ever increasing number of spots protruding out of my face, and let me tell you now,
NOTHING WORKED.
Then I started splashing cold (or lukewarm) water on my
face every morning and night, and hey presto, what
do you know, it actually made a difference!
YAY!

___________________________________________

NUMBER THREE

So I'm pretty sure all my friends swear by this stuff,
and every day someone utters those mortal words
'has anyone got any Vaseline' without fail.

I myself don't use it all the time, whenever I possibly can,
but I do applaud it's many benefits.
For starters

SLATHER YOUR LIPS WITH IT
(Especially in the winter when they get drier than the Sahara)

GROW YOUR EYELASHES WITH IT

and what I mean by that is use a mascara brush,
dip it in the Vaseline or smooth Vaseline onto your lashes,
and then spread out your lashes with the brush
in the same way you would do with mascara.

And voila, look at those babies elongate.
You needn't fork out the doh on mascara
when you can spend near enough nothing on Vaseline!
Ahhhhh the cheapskate life....

_______________________________________________

NUMBER FOUR
I love this stuff.

E45 Cream is just simply fab fabbity fab,
especially when you're an unfortunate sufferer of dry skin syndrome (wahey, fun times).

Now an obvious tip is to apply this so that you don't
dry out like a sponge and resemble Spongebob Squarepants
minus the water, but I have a different one I want to share...

USE THIS TO GET A DEWY GLOW.

When you have dry skin, and you're all set out to
replenish the moisture in your pores, you'd normally
slather enough on so that you remain relatively moisturized
for the majority of the day.

BUT, you can be moisturized, or you can be dewy
and dewy is what all the fashionistas slave away for.
Dewy is just the right balance between oily
and dry, and when you have dry skin, you can achieve
this easily because you can control how moisturized your face appears.

To look dewy, you want to apply a light cover of moisturizing
cream to your skin, and you want just enough so that the light gently caresses and reflects off the apples of
your cheek, but not so much that you look like you've just ran the London Marathon with a sneaky triathlon thrown in there for good measure.

Next time Vogue snaps you up for it's front cover,
there's no need to thank me ;)

I HOPE YOU ENJOY MY TIPS!
IF YOU HAVE ANY MORE PLEASE COMMENT (:

doing my English Lit coursework (I'm a bad, bad girl), and
I saw this.

A " Dr Martens 11” Satchel" with
"Vandalised Jouy print leather". I don't really know what that means, or how much this beauty is,
or any of those other minor details,
but what I do know is that this bag is absolutely
GORGEOUS and I am in luuurrrrveee.

THE BREAKFAST CLUB

So I don't know if you've guessed....
but one of my favourite films EVER is John Hughes' 1985 classic
'THE BREAKFAST CLUB'.

I discovered it twenty eight years too late and
didn't even exist on this planet on it's tenth anniversary,
but that's not a problem my friend, because good films
always, always stand the test of time.

And this film is just AMAZING.

The Breakfast Club is about
five teenagers at Shermer High School who each happen to have
detention for various reasons one Saturday.
Each represents a different
stereotype: the criminal, the princess,
the basket case, the athlete and the brain.

And the film focuses on how they initially
think they've got nothing in common and are nothing more
than their respective stereotypes.

Yet by the end they release they all have something
in common, and walk away with completely
different opinions of each other and a new found respect and understanding that wasn't there before.
They realise that they are each so much more than their preconceived stereotypes.

It's an American high school classic
it's got a fab story line, witty, unique, memorable characters,
fantastic actors (namely Judd Nelson &
Anthony Michael Hall), the bad boy good girl romance...
It's funny, it's poignant, thought provoking,
iconic, timeless, perfect

And I just thought you should know
(that's if you didn't already).

If you haven't watched The Breakfast Club
already, you should also know that you will have a big crush
on Judd Nelson, aka. bad boy Bender,
after you watch this, and you will also want geeky Brian
to be your new best friend

And the scene where Claire goes
to find Bender, and everything after that is
so heartwarming and lovely
and ooooooohhhhhhh I LOVE IT/ THEM SO MUCH.
My heart goes all tingly
just by writing about it! (:

I really could go on for absolutely ages about this
film, but I don't want to bore you.

But please, please, please

GO WATCH THIS FILM.

YOU WON'T REGRET IT.

-if you have watched it, please comment so
we can rave about it together ^_^
